This 19-year-old Dallas woman had suffered with her body image due to “tuberous breast”. Tuberous breast disorder is named such due to the breast’s resemblance to tuberous plant roots, and not the kind of thing that helps a teenager feel confident or good about her body. Tuberous breasts look as if the breast has been constricted at the base and what little breast tissue develops looks as if it’s held in a sock. There’s very little to the breast that actually looks like a “normal” breast. Added to that, the breasts in this case were markedly asymmetrical and underdeveloped. Mentor Silicone implants were placed under the muscle using 325ccs on the left and 250ccs on the right to correct the asymmetry. The patient is a college student and had the procedure done during her winter break from school. She went back to school in January and drew many comments and compliments about how happy she looked. In this case the breast augmentation not only fixed the disorder of the patient’s breasts, it also gave her back her smile.
